The duties of the Board of Equalization changed dramatically due to recent legislation. Once in charge of a wide array of taxation and collection programs, the legislature and Governor saw it fit to break the agency into three entities. The Board of Equalization now returns to its historical mandate of equalizing property taxes throughout the state.  This is exactly the work David has been dedicated to throughout his career.

It is more important now than ever that an individual with this unique form of expertise and experience step forward to guide the Board of Equalization on the best path forward. David feels a duty to the Board of Equalization and to the taxpayers of California to make sure this agency can provide the needed  oversight and taxpayer protection in the most efficient, effective, and responsive manner.

David Dodson has worked as a Property Appraiser, Instructor, and Supervisor with the Board of Equalization for over twenty-five years. He has developed a high degree of expertise, experience, and high level contacts  in this specialized field. A business graduate from the University of Arizona David also attended San Diego State University. David has worked for the Los Angeles County Assessor and proudly served in the United States  Coast Guard Reserve. David lives in Dana Point with wife Penny and has two college age children, Emily and Alex.
